LAW OF UKRAINE

 

On introducing amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations”

 

 

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine resolves:

 

I.                 To introduce to Article 8 of the Law of Ukraine “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious  Organizations” (References of the Verkhovna Rada of USSR, 1991, #25, art.283) the following amendments:

1) Part 1 is to be supplemented with a new sentence of the following content:

“The affiliation of a person to a religious community shall be determined by his/her self-identification with the given religious community to be confirmed with his/her participation in the religious life of a particular community”;  

2) Part 2 following the words “free change of this jurisdiction” is to be supplemented with the words:

“by means of registration of a new wording of the Statute (provision) or changes and additions thereto, adopted upon consent to such change by the majority of persons, citizens present at the meeting who belong to the religious organization”.

 

ІІ. Concluding provisions

1.                The Law hereof enters into force from the day following the day of its publishing.

2.                The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine shall, within a month term, starting from the day the Law hereof has been enacted, bring its legal acts and ensure bringing legal acts of ministries and other central executive bodies of Ukraine into compliance with the Law hereof.
